Nest 60

by The Folly Turtles Crew on July 12th, 2016

2016n60-32016n60-2Mark and Haley from Greenville were lucky enough to witness this Momma Turtle nesting the night before. She laid her treasure and went back to the ocean, but Mark and Haley stayed on the beach for hours to make sure no one disturbed the nest. They were waiting for Betty when she arrived!

Betty relocated the clutch of 89 eggs to a site higher on the beach. Because it’s in a heavily populated area, we’ll need to continue the vigil and watch this one extra closely for human and lighting disturbances.

Betty and Marilynn also enjoyed sharing turtle facts with Wynter, Georgia and Abbey from Kentucky.

A big “THANK YOU” to Mark and Haley for their special care in welcoming this Momma Turtle and her nest to Folly.
