West Side Wanderer
What an amazingly persistent sea turtle! She evidently knew what she wanted in a nest site and wasn’t going to stop shopping until she found it.

Judi’s photos are as incredible as the story: ” She came in around 607-609 West Ashley, wandered to 611, looped, zigzagged & circled her way down the beach. Tracks in several places disappeared below the tide line.

She walked along the base of the dunes in a few places then back onto the beach. Finally went slightly past 601 West then looped around and nested. When she was done, she walked back along the base of the dune for a few yards then headed back to the ocean.”

Wow! Pickiness paid off — the turtle laid a 102-egg clutch in her place of choice. Carol R and Carrie very carefully and respectfully moved them to a more stable location to protect them from being overwashed. We consider this new nest (#13) to a very lucky one.
